Unscheduled Walks
Sometimes you may not be able to
participate in a walk as scheduled or you may like to do an
extra walk or two that week. If that is the case, why not join
some of our members who do some of our walks on a rather regular
basis.
Ferne & Serge Perry do our Bedford
walk every Tuesday afternoon at 4:30pm beginning from
Shoppers Drug Mart, 950 Bedford Highway.
Sally Baccardax usually does the
Armdale walk every Thursday afternoon from the Needs
Convenience Store, 24 St. Margaret’s Bay Road.
On the last Friday of each month, Judy
Everard does the City-to-City walk at 5:30pm from the
lobby of the Westin Hotel, 1881 Hollis Street.
Following the walk the group picks a great restaurant and fun for
all!
Everyone is welcome so why not
come out and join us.
Most of the walks are listed
in our 'Annual Schedule of Walks’ and for those
with email, a reminder is sent out shortly before the scheduled
walk.
The club is always looking for new
trails to hike and new leaders to guide the walks. If you wish to volunteer
to lead a walk or have suggestions for a new walk, contact any of the
executive members listed on the club web site. They can help you or find
someone that can. Get involved and see what benefits walking can bring, you
may be glad you did.

Monthly Draw
The participation in our walks has increased
significantly over the past five years so it was suggested
that this should be recognized by holding a “Monthly Draw”.
Each time a member participates in one of our scheduled
events, his or her name will be entered in the draw.
There are at least two scheduled walks each
month, sometimes more, and the more you participate the
better your chances. The prize will change
each month so who knows what you may win.
Remember only current members are eligible for this monthly
draw. If you have participated in any of our
walks but have not yet joined our Club, you may want to consider
becoming a member.
Although a maximum was set at what can be spent on the
prizes, you only have to win once to get up to two hundred
per cent return on your investment!!! Membership in the Chebucto Hiking
Club has many valuable benefits - and includes fun,
fitness and friendship.
Recyclables
As a result of recycling efforts,
the Club’s name is permanently inscribed
on the Trans Canada Trail Pavilion located on the waterfront at the Alderney Gate Events Plaza in Dartmouth.
The plaque will appear as shown.

CHC is still
collecting recyclables and redeeming them to purchase meters of the
Trans Canada Trail. We currently have $291.20 on hand and would like
to thank those members who have contributed bottles and cans, or
have assisted in picking them up on the trails. If you would like to
assist, please bring your recyclables on any walk and give them to
the walk leader. Remember that this initiative helps clean up our
community, it helps to support the Trans Canada Trail and it also
helps the Club by not using Club funds to purchase meters of the TCT.
If you would like to donate your recyclables to this
cause, please bring them to any walk, or phone Judy Everard at 462-1458 and arrangements can be made to have them picked up.
Thank you for your help.
