Sometimes when you attempt to save a file you have been editing, the system glitches and won't let you overwrite the file you're editing. Don't panic, just use the workaround below: This will happen both to IP editors using the RCS (Revision Control System) and those using PICO, the account file editor. Usually it's a glitch which will clear itself up. If you're using ^T for to files instead of hitting enter to accept the default filename, this will sometimes trigger the glitch. As a fallback, try this next time: change the name of the file you are saving. eg...if you are editing 'test.html', save it as 'test1.html' and then delete 'test.html' and rename 'test1.html' to 'test.html'. It's a workaround but works well when the system gives you grief.
